Every Thursday, the Student Food Market offers a variety of fresh produce and other healthy staples, free of charge, to UCSF students. The Student Food Market is open to all current fee-paying students. No registration or RSVP required. Bring your UCSF student ID to check in. We encourage you to bring a reusable bag— no bags will be provided.

Friday Grocery Pick-Up
The Student Food Market offers Friday Grocery Pick-Up at Parnassus for students who are not able to attend on Thursdays due to classes/clinic/rotations. The online request for Friday Grocery Pick-Up will be open Mondays 8 a.m.-Tuesdays 11:59 p.m. Students will be notified if a bag will be available by Wednesday of each week. Students must pick-up their grocery bag at the Student Success Center (MU-100w) between 8 a.m.-1 p.m. that Friday.

- Am I eligible for the Student Food Market? All current UCSF fee-paying students are eligible to attend the Student Food Market.
- Do I need to register/RSVP to attend the Student Food Market? No. Just bring your UCSF student ID to check in at the Student Food Market.
- What if I am not available to attend the Student Food Market on Thursdays? You can request a Friday Grocery Pick-up bag. Request must be submitted Mondays-Tuesdays. You will be notified if a bag is available on Wednesdays. Pick up in on Fridays between 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Student Success Center (Millberry Union, 100w). You can also utilize The Pantry 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Is there anything that I need to bring with me to the Student Food Market? Bring your UCSF student ID and grocery bags.
- Where does the food at the Student Food Market come from? The primary source for produce and goods is the SF/Marin Food Bank.
- Do you know what will be available each week? The SF/Marin Food bank provides a list items that will be delivered Thursday mornings. Some items are limited. A sneak peek on what is expected can be found at the top of this page.
- How do I know the amount of each item I can take? Limit numbers are posted by the item. Staff will also notifiy you of limits. You are not required to take items.
- What if I do not want a certain item? You are not required to take items.
- Why is the food close to or just past the printed "Best By" date? The food distributed is safe to eat past the printed code date. Student Food Market staff verifies the Code Date Extensions, provided by the SF/Marin Food Bank.
- What happens to the food that is remaining at the end of the Student Food Market? Items may be saved for future distribution. Fresh produce will be distributed through the Food4UCSF Students text messages. We work hard to reduce any food waste.
- How can I support the Student Food Market? The Student Food Market is staffed by Federal Work Study students. If you are interested in a work study position, contact [email protected].
